Overview of our camps: At Lights Up Summer Camps, over two weeks, 3 lead teachers, 1 music director, and 3 assistants work together to create a production for 40 young actors. A costume lead works for 3 days, and band members works for 1 day.

Lead Teacher/Director

Responsibilities

Teaching and supervising one of three groups, ~13 actors at a time, ages 7-13.

Blocking and Choreographing 3 scenes and 3 songs, which includes one All Cast song.

2 weeks, Mon-Fri from 9:15-3:15, with a performance at 7pm on the final Friday.

2025 Dates: 

July 7-18, July 21-Aug 1, and Aug 4-15

Location: Fauntleroy Church

Stipend: $2500

Experience: Teachers should have multiple experiences Teaching and Directing kids, including blocking and choreographing. It helps if teachers have personal experience with musical theater performance. 

Typical Day: The day is split up into All Cast time (supported by all teachers and assistants), and Group time (led by a Teacher and assistant, and sometimes a music director).

Music Director

Responsibilities

Teaching all songs with support from Director, and playing piano for performance

2 weeks, Mon-Fri from 9:15-3:15, with a performance at 7pm on the final Friday.

July 7-18, July 21-Aug 1, and Aug 4-15

Location: Fauntleroy Church

Stipend: $2100

Experience: Music directors should have experiences with kids musicals, as well as Piano. 

Typical Day: The day is split up into All Cast time, supported by all teachers, and Group time, led by a Teacher and assistant, and sometimes a music director.

Assistants (18+)

Responsibilities

Supervising actors through lunch and snacks 

Assisting teachers during work time

Leading actors in games

2 weeks, Mon-Fri from 9:15-3:30, with a performance at 7pm on the final friday.

July 7-18, July 21-Aug 1, and Aug 4-15

Location: Fauntleroy Church

Stipend: $1375

Experience: Experience with groups of kids, and Theater

Costume Help

Responsibilities

Choosing, fitting, and organizing costumes for 40 young actors

Possibly mending, fixing, or light sewing depending on experience

Roughly 12-15 hours of work (Second Tuesday-Friday of each camp)

Location: Fauntleroy Church

Stipend: $400

Experience: Experience with groups of kids, and Theater

Band (Drummer, Bassist)

Responsibilities

Practicing music with music director 9-11am, and then with the cast 10am-3pm

Performance that night from 6-8pm

Roughly 8-10 hours of work

Location: Fauntleroy YMCA/UCC

Stipend: $300/performance

Experience: Experience playing for Theater and/or kids

Before/AFter Care teacher (18+)

Responsibilities

Sole Supervisor of Kids: play games, do crafts, have snack, watch movie.

8:30-9:15, and 3:30-5:00.

Stipend: $700 per camp

Experience: Babysitting
